About Melaleuca: The Wellness Company
In 1985, Frank VanderSloot founded Melaleuca with a simple yet profound mission: “to enhance the lives of those we touch by helping people reach their goals.” To that end, we have researched, developed, and manufactured hundreds of wellness products using the best of science and nature. Today, Melaleuca offers more than 400 health and wellness products. These affordable, environmentally friendly household goods are sold to millions of families across the world.
Melaleuca: A Consumer Goods Company
Melaleuca: The Wellness Company specializes in consumer packaged goods—consumable household products that people use every day and every month to live happier and more vibrant lives. Melaleuca products include personal care products, home cleaning products, supplements and nutrition products, medicines and treatments, baby care products, cosmetics, and essential oils.
These products are made from natural and safe ingredients. In particular, Melaleuca’s line of home cleaning products, called EcoSense, is especially known for being environmentally friendly. EcoSense products contain no harsh chemicals, including ammonia, bleach, parabens, and phthalates.
What started as a single-room operation with just a handful of employees has steadily grown into a multibillion-dollar company. Since 2017, Melaleuca has generated $2 billion in revenue each year. And we continue to grow!
Our Business Model
Melaleuca helps people achieve financial wellness through its Consumer Direct Marketing® model and revenue-sharing program. Melaleuca customers who participate in this program are called Marketing Executives. Marketing Executives don’t distribute or sell products; instead, they refer potential customers to the company and help them set up their shopping accounts. Those customers then purchase directly from Melaleuca, and the Marketing Executives receive a portion of those sales as a thank-you from the company.
This business model has allowed Melaleuca to use virtually no traditional advertising. We rely on the efforts of our loyal customers, who share Melaleuca products because they love them. But actually about 80% of Melaleuca customers haven’t referred even a single person. Despite not receiving any compensation checks, they shop each month because they love the products they receive from Melaleuca.
Giving Back
Melaleuca does good where good is needed by giving back to the community and providing relief to those in need. The Wellness Company employs thousands of talented and dedicated employees who fulfill Melaleuca’s mission to enhance lives every day at work, in their personal lives, and in the community through volunteerism.
The Melaleuca Foundation, the company’s charitable arm, has been helping people in need for over 20 years. Primarily focusing on six themes, the Melaleuca Foundation provides relief to victims of natural disasters, feeds those suffering from food insecurity, honors our country’s heroes, provides humanitarian assistance, and supports educational endeavors. And since 2007, the foundation has also been the sole financial supporter of the Santa Lucia Children’s Home, an orphanage in Quito, Ecuador.
