Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence

The Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) honored Melaleuca for demonstrating “a high commitment to environmental protection and waste reduction.” Melaleuca opened for business in Hong Kong in 2000, making it the third Asian country in its global operations behind Taiwan (1997) and Japan (1998).

Each year, the HKAEE recognizes companies and organizations across a wide range of industries that demonstrate outstanding environmental performance in their sector. Awardees are deemed deserving only after a rigorous multi-stage screening process and on-site assessment. Criteria include green design, energy efficiency, waste reduction, recycling, pollution initiatives, and use of renewable energy.

The HKAEE is led by Hong Kong’s Environmental Campaign Committee and Environmental Protection Department. It’s goal is to to “encourage organizations to implement environmental management, to measure organizations’ performance on their commitment to environmental management, and to recognize organizations with excellence performance on environmental management.”
