Frank VanderSloot Receives “Outstanding Innovator & Building of Dynamic Economic Ecosystems” Award from REDI
Melaleuca Executive Chairman and Founder Frank L. VanderSloot was recently honored by Regional Economic Development for Eastern Idaho (REDI). To honor Frank for his commitment to and cultivation of Eastern Idaho, REDI presented Frank with the Outstanding Innovator & Building of Dynamic Economic Ecosystems Award. This was the first-ever presentation of this award, and until REDI finds another patron similarly worthy, the award will not be given again.
REDI Board Chairman R. Scott Reese presented the award, naming Frank’s many contributions to Eastern Idaho as merit for the presentation. Few have done more to help the economic vibrance of the Eastern Idaho economy than Frank VanderSloot. As former Melaleuca CEO, Frank VanderSloot created one of Idaho’s largest privately-held companies—a company that generates over $2 billion annually and employs about 5,000 people in 20 different countries around the world. Considering Melaleuca’s economic impact, economist and study author Will Jensen states, “Southeast Idaho is fortunate to have an economic engine that heavily contributes to this region’s economy.”
But Frank’s contributions to Eastern Idaho extend far beyond his success in the products manufacturing arena. He has been responsible for restoration and building throughout the area, including the historic New Sweden Schoolhouse donated to American Heritage Charter School, New Youth Events Center at Bonneville Fairgrounds, and Melaleuca Headquarters, contributing an additional $2.3 million to expand the Shelley sewer system, leading to economic development in the area.
Frank’s contributions to Eastern Idaho are many. He is certainly a worthy recipient of this rare and prestigious award.
