Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce: Tribute to Local Business

Tribute to Local Business

Each year, the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce honors a local organization with its Tribute to Local Business Award. This award recognizes a business for its ongoing economic and charitable impact in the greater Idaho Falls community and beyond.

Melaleuca earned the Chamber’s 2019 Tribute to Local Business Award for its continuing commitment to philanthropy and community service. In recognizing the impact The Wellness Company has had on the local community, the Chamber pointed to an independent economic study from 2011 that found Melaleuca was responsible for 8 percent of the jobs in Bonneville, Madison, and Jefferson counties.

The Chamber also praised Melaleuca for its decades of community outreach, including: donating hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship funds to disadvantaged students; donating $3.5 million to the Boy Scouts of America and helping them collect over 6 million pounds of food for families in need; pledging $275,000 to construct a new 4-H facility; and spending $2 million to renovate the historic New Sweden Schoolhouse and donating it to the American Heritage Charter School.

Melaleuca was also awarded for its philanthropy across the globe. In particular, the Chamber recognized Melaleuca’s sole sponsorship of the Santa Lucia Children’s Home in Quito, Ecuador, and its humanitarian aid in times of natural catastrophe. The Wellness Company has donated millions of dollars in cash, equipment, and products to help millions of victims of hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, and wildfire in the United States and overseas.
